Legion Athletic Camp Child Safety Policy and Release

 Injury Risk

I, the undersigned, hereby acknowledge that certain risks of injury are inherent to participation in recreational activities, sporting activities and transportation to, from and at camp. These types of injuries may be minor or serious and may result from one’s actions, or the actions or inactions of others or a combination of both.

I hereby understand that certain activities require a minimum level of fitness and health (physical, mental and emotional) and that each person has a different capacity for participating in these activities. Some activities involve an intense level of activity.

I hereby agree that Royal Canadian Legion Athletic Camp, its staff and agents shall not be liable for any injury, loss or damage to person or property, incurred during this program, including deterioration of health or illness or aggravation of condition resulting from participation in these activities, property damage or lost property.

Peanut Policy

For the health and safety of all of our campers, Royal Canadian Legion Athletic Camp advises parents/guardians that they should not send peanut or any other nut products with their child to camp, and advises food suppliers that peanuts or nut products are not to be supplied to the Camp.

I hereby understand though that, despite its best efforts, that Royal Canadian Legion Athletic Camp cannot guarantee a peanut-free environment.

Supervision

The Royal Canadian Legion Athletic Camp strives to provide an environment where an athlete feels safe and nurtured while creating positive social interactions and self-development. Part of this development is through free time without direct supervision, recognizing where this is appropriate in accordance with the age of the athlete involved and the nature of the activities in the circumstances.

I hereby understand that the Royal Canadian Legion Athletic Camp is not able to provide direct supervision of all athletes at all times.

Abuse from Child and/or Parent

All children attending Royal Canadian Legion Athletic Camp Programs are expected to follow the rules and guidelines set forth for their own safety, protection and enjoyment.

We expect parent(s) and child(ren) to respect the facility and staff. If either (parent or child) is continually disrespectful, the child(ren) and family could be dismissed from the program. Should our discipline procedures prove unsuccessful, the child will be dismissed from our program. Please understand that in order for each child to have fun safely, we need both the children‘s and parent's cooperation and good behaviour.
