LEGION ATHLETIC CAMP ATHLETE CODE OF CONDUCT
The Legion Athletic Camp's goal is to continue to be Canada's best sports camp. In addition, an athlete will become acquainted with specific sport skills and teamwork. This will be a place where the athlete feels safe and nurtured while positive social interactions and self-development is provided.
Legion Athletic Camp requires that all participating athletes/campers conduct themselves consistent with the tradition of athletic excellence at Legion Athletic Camp, and according to the highest standards of ethical behaviour.
Behavioural Requirements
The Athlete Code of Conduct (ACC) applies to an athlete's conduct that is associated with the Legion Athletic Camp that has, or might reasonably be seen to have, an adverse effect on the proper functioning of the camp, the rights of other athletes or the reputation of Legion Athletic Camp.
The Legion Athletic Camp holds the following requirements for all athletes while participating at camp and failure to adhere to such requirements will result in discipline, which may include expulsion from camp:
1. You are committed to behaviour that will reflect well on the reputation of Legion Athletic Camp by treating your teammates, opponents, officials, coaches, staff members and the public in general with respect and consideration. Disrespect will not be tolerated.
2. You do not consume drugs or alcohol, and you do not bring drugs or alcohol to camp.
3. You avoid profane or abusive language and disruptive behavior including behavior that is dangerous to self and/or others including acts of violence, harassment, physical or sexual abuse.
4. You conduct yourself in all situations in a manner that would maintain and enhance positive athlete-coach and fellow athlete relations.
5. You do not willfully damage the property of others which would include, but is not limited to, dormitory rooms, facilities at Legion Athletic Camp, sports equipment and transportation vehicles.
6. You treat others with respect and dignity which could include, but is not limited to:
a) Refraining from sexist, racist, violent or discriminatory language and/or behaviour
b) Refraining from hazing/initiation activities of any type.
Note: No policy can address, in specific fashion, all possible situations, which may take place. When this policy does not address a specific behaviour, athletes are expected to conduct themselves and their activities in the spirit of this Code, and in a spirit of social responsibility and respect for others.
Breaches/Violations
Legion Athletic Camp has sole and absolute discretion as to any disciplinary actions to be taken if a person violates the Athlete Code of Conduct. Any action taken is predicated with the idea of Legion Athletic Camp that the disciplinary action is appropriate.
The following disciplinary actions may be taken:
1. Issue a warning;
2. Suspension from further participation in any Legion Athletic Camp programs; or
3. Expulsion from further participation in any Legion Athletic Camp programs.

* Where athletes are too young to reasonably read and fully understand this Code of Conduct, a Parent/Guardian will sign off on the document, which signature will indicate that they explained the terms of this document to the athlete, and they reasonably believed the athlete to understand the expectations set out in the Code of Conduct.
