Head Coach Ross Bolton 

July 12 - 18, 2009 (Week 1)  

 

Ross Bolton enters year No. 13 as a head coach of volleyball at the 48tth annual Legion Athletic Camp. 

A graduate of Thunder Bay, Ontarios Westgate Collegiate, he was an all-around athlete while participating in four sports. 

Football and hockey were featured with championship teams. 

Following graduation from Lakehead University, he taught 31 years at Barkley Public School. 

During this time he established several dynasty teams including 16 consecutive years of girls championship volleyball and five consecutive years of cross-country running supremacy. 

He has coached at the provincial level for more than 10 years and was founder of the Dryden Volleyball Club in 1990. 

The club, which is open to players ages 12-18, won the 1997 Manitoba Juvenile title. 

A NCCP Level 3 coach, Bolton was named Coach of the Year for the Dryden district. 

Of his Legion Athletic Camp experience, which included a stint as a track and field coach in the 1980s, Bolton states: "I really enjoy coaching the kids at the Legion Camp because they come from all over and they bring different skill levels. It is a positive influence for everyone involved and a chance for athletes to get to know each other in a social atmosphere."
